Prince Albert. Georgraphically, it is situated in the Forest Fringe
area of Saskatchewan, Canada. Sturgeon Lake First Nation
officially changed from its original name, the William Twatt Band.
Tansi! Welcome! (listen) The Sturgeon Lake First Nation #101 and #101A are located 55 kilometers north west of the City of Prince Albert. Georgraphically, it is situated in the Forest Fringe area of Saskatchewan, Canada. Sturgeon Lake First Nation officially changed from its original name, the William Twatt Band. William Twatt translated from the Cree language, Ahyahtuskumikinam had been selected by his people to be their Chief spokesperson in 1876 at Fort Carleton, Saskatchewan.
This site will serve as an educational and communication tool for our people and those vistors interested in our community. This site was a project undertaken to be accountable to the members of Sturgeon Lake First Nation. The work of this website was in collaboration with the Prince Albert Grand Council IT Department - many thanks! Of course, this website would not be possible without the full support of the band membership, the staff, the Elders’ prayers and Chief & Council.
The Sturgeon Lake First Nation had a population of 875 in 2001.
As of October 2010 the population is 2558, an increase of 1583.
